Rang Mahal was founded in 1971 by the late Shyam Sunder Ji Jhunjhnuwala, under the Hind Group, at the former Imperial Hotel. In its earliest years, it was a family-style Indian restaurant known for traditional cuisine and a vibrant atmosphere, complete with live sitar and tabla performances.

The restaurant's next chapter was shaped by Ritu Jhunjhnuwala, second-generation Director. In 2000, Rang Mahal moved to Pan Pacific Singapore and pioneered modern Indian fine dining in the city, welcoming generations of guests, from discerning regulars to visiting dignitaries and royalty.

In September 2025, Rang Mahal opened its latest chapter at Naumi Hotel Singapore. The new space draws its design language from the mythical gardens of India, brought to life through a design story called The Garden Within.

Today, Rang Mahal continues to honour its heritage while moving forward with a progressive spirit, more than five decades on, still a name built on family, craftsmanship, and the flavours of India.
